1996 EEE MS graduate develops early warning system for heart problems

Armagan Ergun, who received his M.S. degree from Bilkent Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department in 1996, developed a mobile early warning system for health problems.  After graduating with MS from  Bilkent University, he started working in Silicon Valley, a famous technology center in USA. After working on next generation display and satellite technologies, he leaned towards internet based health technologies. Focusing Mobile Electrocardiography (ECG) technology, Ergun designed a system involving a chip attached at the chest of a person, which  can send  heart pulse signals to a  mobile application over Internet.   Thanks to the data that reach the doctor over the internet, the system can diagnose and warn about the problems that may occur in the heart before they progress to an unrecoverable stage. Ergun, who has been running R&D projects for about 20 years, said “After losing my father in 2015, I gave priority to health technologies. Our goal is to diagnose heart conditions as early as possible and share the patient data with specialised doctors via the cloud”.
