EEE students developed patient simulator

Bilkent University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department students have developed a system that will enable rehabilitation of patients with movement disorders to be carried out more effectively with the help of sensors and simulations. The senior students Salih Can, İdil Gökalp, Elvin Hajızada, Serdar Kose, Ahmet Narman and Muzaffer Özbey developed Treatment Simulation and Movement Simulation for HAVELSAN with the support of company mentor Tolga Sonmez. The students of EEE Department produce technology-based solutions with the cooperation of leading companies of the Turkish industry as part of EEE  Industry-Focused Senior Design Projects in their 4th year of education.

In the project, motion tracking technology is applied using inertial measurement units. In this was  the  movements of patients are measured and observed over time  in the rehabilitation process. A real-time body simulation is obtained with sensors placed in certain areas of the body. Through an interface developed, the product that can be easily used by patients and doctors. The movement of a patient can be observed by collecting the motion data of the various limbs of the patient and communicating it to the experts in the most accurate way, so that the treatment can be performed and adjusted correctly.
