Bilkent University – Faculty of Engineering » Mechanical Engineering Students developed mechanism for warplane defense

Bilkent Üniversitesi Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department students Alpay Bilgiç, Arda Doruk Çerçiler, Berkay Çelik, Endercan Özzeybek, Emirhan Tamer, Barış Özkasap ve Onur Kılınç, developed a solution that can be used to protect warplanes from guided missile attacks.

The mechanism developed can be used to throw fake targets from warplanes so that guided missiles will hit the fake targets instead of the warplanes. In this way, warplanes are protects from attacks. For a successful defense, a fake target needs to be thrown as soon as possible and as far as possible from the plane when there is threat. The mechanism developed by Bilkent ME students can throw a fake target very quickly to a distance of up to 180 meters in case of missile attack.
